A Hair Related mini post

Hello lovely ladies and fine gentlemen!

I realised I have not yet shared with you all a photo of my green hair!
In all honesty though, I am not the best at keeping my hair nicely maintained, so often my hair is faded to a shade of spearmint green or even back to the bleached straw-yellow! Ugh! Lets not even mention my roots that haven't been dyed since September last year...
After exams I aim to be more on top of my own Goth maintenance, including keeping hair dyed, rather than let things get to a state where I no longer revel in my own appearence. Also, I have decided it is time for a hair cut, as my lengths are now getting so long and dry it just isn't growing properly any more. I haven't cut my hair in about four years, so now really is the time...

Apologies for the derpy-ness and the complete lack of makeup (yep, totally natural except maybe some moisturiser), this was taken just after my hair was dyed and air dried. I dyed the under part of my hair so the upper section can cover it entirely if necessary. =D

Old Photo Feature

I realised I never shared my blonde hair with my followers. Here is a photo taken late last year while I had very yellow blonde hair. XD This blonde was the result of faded pink hair, but I couldn't really do the weekly dye to keep the pink lasting. Despire my love of hair dye, I am rather lazy. =P

My hair is now dyed all black again, the way I like it. Sadly all of that bleach caused lots of damage. That happens with all bleached hair, so I can hardly complain. I knew what I was getting myself into. However I still have problems with the damage, frequently needing some deep conditioner for my (now very split) lengths and ends. I haven't cut my hair in years, so it's very long but so split. =(

Gothic Formal Hair

This post was requested by the awesome Sary from The Walrus Room asking about the hair I had in my previous post.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I bleached out some sections of my hair using specially bought hair bleach, mainly underneath the top layer of hair so most of the colour is hidden when my hair is down. I had 3 week old black dye in, so overall it took about 4 bleach applications, waiting for a day or a week in between, to get a nice, light-ish colour. (Note- You MUST wait in between bleach applications. I have a friend who's hair was fried and broke off because it was over bleached. Also, follow the packet instructions exactly. The chemicals are strong and poisonous. Oh, and if you have dyed black hair, there WILL be an orange stage. You simply have to grin and bear it I'm afraid. My undyed roots went blonde on the first application.)

My bleached hair... yes I had to go to school looking like this...
A few days later, after being a blonde baby for a few days... much to the delight of everyone at school =/, I added some Fudge colour in Blueberry Hill and some Manic Panic in Pillarbox Red to the blonde sections as I pleased. Currently I am mainly purple because it has lasted far longer than the red. (You know those long side burn type sections of hair often seen with deathhawks? Despite my lack of cool undershave, my ones are brilliant purple and look the best.)

Anyway, fast forward to last friday midday, when I was deciding what to do with my hair I decided to touch up the purple, so I mixed in some Fudge in my conditioner bottle. Unfortunately it became more concentrated that I wanted, but it worked well. So, in the shower I wore gloves and applied it as normal conditioner. Once out I scrubbed my scalp with a towel to remove the purple glow... (Just a re-cap; there is colour in the bleached parts of my hair, plus more purple on the unbleached, dyed black sections giving my hair and overall purple glow)

Anyway for the formal I simply sprayed some glitter into my hair, teased the underneath layer and finished with strong hold hair spray. Dead easy.

Please remember that I am not a hair colouring virgin. I've had heaps of experience before, and this was not my first bleaching episode either. It was the most successful though. I hope that this is inspiring and helpful to you.

DIY Goth Ringlets

Yesterday I attempted to create my own hair falls. I didn't wan't to pay $100 for a pair from Germany, because, frankly I had no idea if they would suit me. BTW a Google image search on "Goth Ringlets" or "Goth ringlet falls" proved to be useless (there were some emo girls, some blonde wigs and some flowers...), so in order to show you guys what I was trying to achieve, I Googled "Lolita Ringlet falls" and got much better results...

(P.S Amy of The Ultimate Goth Guide, you may want to take a look at this... Does it look at all familliar???
I'm not sure if you wrote it, but frankly it appears to be a cut and paste job.)
Anyway, that picture kind of gives you the idea...

Instead I used the cut off 'Jamaican Dreadlocks' ringlets from a tam that my boyfriend had. He cut them off because they looked silly, he said.

You can see how messy my room is...

I simply cut the locks of hair (It's fake plastic hair, in case you were wondering. I wouldn't wear real hair ever. I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but I don't eat red meat, and I avoid gelatine. One of those freaky, fussy types, yeah.) I should mention that each ringlet is doubled over and sewn between a folded piece of mesh.

My hair is recently dyed black, so it matches the colour fine. As my black colour leeches out (as well all know it annoyingly does) I won't wear these.

Yeah, see my cheesy smile!!!
Then I simply wrapped the lengths around two high pigtails and pinned them in place through the mesh with bobby pins.

Some of the ringlets fell out, which is a bit of a problem. I simply pinned them back in, and will probably attach them to a mini hair band (those 1cm or smaller ones) and hope for the best. Who am I kidding? That's how this whole thing started.

Aren't I so darkly mysterious? Lol...
Anyway, I hope my random creations inspire some other darklings to get creative and make something cool.
